The Signs

How do you know you have wasps or hornets?

If you are encountering an irregular number of wasps or hornets around your home or premises it is likely that you have a nest nearby. Nests are usually located in roof voids, bushes, garden sheds, compost heaps and in the ground, which are light brown paper mache looking balls, starting off as a golf ball size, but it is not uncommon for them grow to a football size or even bigger in extreme cases.

You may also hear buzzing from within your loft or walls. They are most prevalent in the spring and usually die off of by late autumn. They are conducive to the garden early on in the season, but become nuisance as the season gets later when the queen stops producing her royal jelly, which is when they are even more attracted to sugary and high protein foods.
